The Camera Fulfills a Calling.
The RisingStar31 production team consists of professional videographers, on air talent, and a post production crew that includes an Emmy Award winning editor.
Pamela Sherrod is a writer and producer who founded the company to create educational and inspirational films. RisingStar31 is the outgrowth of an earlier production company named Lil' SamHat Productions which she co-founded with Mrs. Sammy Davis Jr.
She's a writer with a passion for sharing stories of God's miracles and looks forward to producing family-friendly films, the first of which is A Detour to Mexico, which she wrote with Mrs. Davis.
Pamela is equally committed to helping people deliver their own important messages and she offers production services for commercials, web shows, book trailers and other promotional projects.
She's held a number of positions, which include her job as a staff assistant to U.S. Senator Lowell Weicker. Among her other duties, she scheduled tours of the White House, U.S. Capitol and FBI Building. Later, as a news assistant at ABC News, she helped produce Nightline, World News Tonight with Peter Jennings and other news programs.
Over the years, Pamela has produced inspirational books and documentaries. She's also had the opportunity to co-own a store, manage the sales office of a new home subdivision, practice real estate in four states, teach and coordinate services in a crisis intervention program for women.
Pamela began a partnership with Altovise Davis in 2005 to fulfill a special request made by Altovise's husband, the late Rat Pack Star, Sammy Davis Jr. The iconic celebrity was called "The World's Greatest Entertainer," but he'd made a great sacrifice to earn the title - his education. Having performed from the age of three, Sammy couldn't read or write until he was an adult. This had plagued his life, despite achieving enormous success, and left him vulnerable to the manipulation by various partners and the mismanagement of his estate. The entertainer asked his wife to reach out to youth and stress the importance of getting their education.
Pamela and Altovise joined forces to fulfill this request, and wrote the screenplay, A Detour to Mexico, to deliver the message. A few years later, they also embarked on an innovative plan to help promote literacy.
In her book, Sammy Davis Jr.: The Writer Who Saved His Estate, Pamela chronicled these events, as well as her involvement in the stunning circumstances surrounding the Davis estate.
Pamela remains committed to continuing the work that they began. To fund their film projects, RisingStar31 offers video production services for web shows, commercials, book trailers and other advertising/promotional campaigns.
Currently underway are plans to produce the musical, A Detour to Mexico. In addition to this, in July 2016, on the Sarasota Shopping Network, RisingStar31 will launch two educational documentaries, a series about Florida's celebrities and historical program entitled Sarasota Showcased.
